Schizophrenic Survivors
Schizophrenia Recovery: Yes, It's Possible.
If you're one of the many schizophrenic survivors around the world, you know how devastating the disease can be. Your symptoms may range from mild to intense, and many aspects of life can cause your symptoms to increase or decrease, sometimes without warning. If you're in the throes of the disease right now, you're not alone. When schizophrenia has a hold on your mind, it's hard to imagine that you could ever accomplish paranoid schizophrenia recovery.
I'm here to tell you that schizophrenia recovery is possible, and I believe in your ability to get well.
When you suffer from paranoid schizophrenia, the delusions, hallucinations, and negative thought patterns that you experience can make it difficult to believe that you'll ever get well. Your mind may discourage you from reaching out to professionals for help. You may believe that the very people who can help you have sinister motives, or that if you admit the extent of your mental health issues, you'll be locked up and heavily medicated. These fears are understandable, and it can be hard to talk yourself down from a place of heightened anxiety.
I understand how tough it can be to reach out for the help you need in order to become one of the many schizophrenic survivors. Everyone who asks for help has to do so in their own way, in their own time. It can be frustrating when loved ones and friends pressure you to get help before you're ready. I understand that asking for help is a process for most people. Reaching out to admit that you need assistance in getting your life back is a huge sign of strength, and it can take time to work up the courage necessary to make the phone call to get assistance. As a healthcare professional I work in partnership with people with schizophrenia and their carers, offering help, treatment and care in an atmosphere of hope and optimism, taking time to build supportive and empathic relationships is an essential part of care.
